Life

Byul-ee <3

I would like all of you to meet my puppy, Byul-ee! (Byul is actually a korean word for "star.")
She is about 3 years old now, and she is the light of my life! I always loved dogs-- I think they're the most loyal, compassionate beings in the world. It's funny how much love and comfort I feel from Byul-ee even though she can't even talk or express her feelings! Just looking into her eyes strengthens me, and I always rely on her to hear me out on my problems..

You will all be surprised to even know how I got her in the first place. When my parents moved to Korea, we always wanted a dog, but never really had a chance to go find one. But one day, while I was working at my dad's bakery, a cute little dog walked into our store followed by a male customer. At first, I thought that the dog belonged to that male customer and I kindly told him that I'll be watching his dog outside (since dogs are not allowed inside.) The male customer didn't even respond, but I went ahead and waited outside for him with the dog. I couldn't help thinking, "Wow. That customer is beyond lucky! This dog is so cute. I wish she was mine..." I enjoyed those short 10 minutes with her, hugging her and playing with her. When the male customer finally stepped out of the bakery, I tried to give him his dog back. He looked at my confusingly and said, "Uh... That dog is not mine." And he just left! I stood there surprised as I slowly took the dog back into the store to show my dad. I thought someone had lost the dog, so I waited patiently for her owner, but nobody showed up. As a result, I took her back to our house and to this day, her owner had not claimed her. I don't know if she was lost, stolen, or left by her owner, but in any case, I'm glad she's here with us now. I secretly hoped she was left by her owner, so that we don't feel guilty bringing her into our house. But I know that she's happy here, and she makes all of us happy.

Byul-ee is such a big blessing in our lives... <3

With Love, Rachel Kim.
